Red Letter Half Day - 9th September 2006

The weather perked up nicely and it was bound to be a great day .We had an old chap called Goff booked in. It was his 80th birthday and his family were bringing him along to compete for the car crush .How can you be ageist when Ronald Regan ran America in his twilight years.

When asked if he was too old to be president he replied I can still put my socks on standing up. Goff was wearing socks and that was good enough for me .Slim fit and with his own hair, a role model to all my instructors especially Wayne the Mars bar monster and nigel who drinks a bucket of coke a day.

We also had Frazier age 13 who wanted to upgrade on the day, and all he had to do was beat me at an arm wrestle .A worthy opponent even if he did use both arms .Ended up nearly winning the day. except we had a father and son over from the states and Richard the dad had a life time of driving tracked vehicles in mining ect .With age comes experience which showed with his car crush .He really nailed it.

! We had a bit of glamour on the day in the form of Alison and her friend who also did well considering they usually drive a desk. Alison’s friend had a pony tail which came in handy for hand signals the icing on the cake was test driving 56 ton of chieftain round the courses ,its coming to the end of a six month restoration drove like were getting it right.
